The B.Sc (Physics) course was started in the year 1996 in Sourashtra College, Madurai. Since then the department has successfully Offers young scientists and future programmers. The department has adequate Number of rooms to accommodate 120 students and 5 faculty members. The Department has been producing excellent results during this 10 years.

| 3. Objectives: |
The objective of the B.Sc (Physics) Degree is to prepare the Higher Secondary students of above average attainments for a course that will equip them to have the knowledge and practical experience in science facts and Skills to become young scientist or a programmer.

| 4. Eligibility For Admission: |
Candidates seeking admission to the B.Sc (Physics) degree course must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (any group I/II) of the Government of Tamil Nadu or any other examination, recognized by the Syndicate of the Madurai Kamaraj University or its equivalent.

| 5. Duration Of The Course: |
The duration of the course shall be three academic years comprising Six semesters with two semesters in each academic year.

The course consists of 36 papers. The following are the important Subjets:Mechanics and relativity, optics and spectroscopy, Electromagnetism, Programming in C, Analog electronics, Digital electronics, Medical physics, Material science etc.
