| 2. History of the department: |
The MBA Course was started in the year 1994-1995 in Sourashtra College, Madurai, with a sanctioned in take of 30 students per year from AICTE. After a few years, the sanctioned in take was enhanced to 60 studnets per year by AICTE so as to accommodate a total of 120 students, 14 faculty members (full time and part time). A new Building was constructed with a hall in ground floor to accommodate around 300 persons. The MBA Programme has been producing excellent results over a period of ten years.

| 3. Objectives: |
The objective of the MBA programme is impart adequate knowledge, skill and attitude to the students who have passed out of under graduation so as to prepare them for a managerial or entrepreneurail career.

| 4. Eligibility For Admission: |
Candidates seeking admission to the MBA degree course must have Passed any under graduate course.
|
| 5. Duration Of The Course: |
The duration of the course is 2 academic years comprising four semesters with Two semesters in each academic year.

The MBA course consists of 29 papers. The important subjects are Marketing Management, Sales Management, Financial Management, Operations Management and HR Management.
