| 2. History of the department: |
The B.S.c (IT) course was started in the year 2000-2001. Since then the department has successfully been offering the B.Sc(IT) Programme to cater to the needs of the Information Technology industry. The department has adequate number of rooms to accommodate 150 students and 6 Faculty members (Full time and part Time). The department has been producing Tremendous results over a period 3 years.

| 3. Objectives: |
To prepare the students understand fundamentals of IT and to study the requirements of Information Technology industry. The student has to pursue Higher studies in Computer Science and Information Technology.

| 4. Eligibility For Admission: |
Candidates seeking admission to the B.Sc.(IT) Degree Course must have Passed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu or any Other examination recognized by the Syndicate of the Madurai Kamaraj University as its equivalent.

| 5. Duration Of The Course: |
The duration of the Course shall be 3 academic years comprising 6 Semesters with 2 semesters in each academic year.

The Course consists of 18 Major Theory Papers, 12 practical papers, 8 Theory Langauge Papers. The following are the important subjects like: C,C++, Java, Visual Basic, Oracle, and Dot Net Technologies.
