B.Sc. Biochemistry (Self Finance)

2. History of the department:

UG Department of Biochemistry was started in 1993.

PG Department of Biochemistry was started in 1996.

UGC sponsored vocational coursein Biotechnology was started in 2002.
(Under this scheme two courses viz Certificate Course in Biotechnology and Advance Diploma in Biotechnology are offered for students of Biochemistry as an add on course in the I and II year B.Sc Degree.)

PG Department Biotechnology was started in 2005.

(The PG Department was converted from Biochemistry to Biotechnology in 2005).
The Department has 160 students and 12 major teaching staff members.

3. Objectives:

The objective of this department is to develop young minds in theory and practical of Biochemistry and Biotechnology. The courses and teaching methodologies focus on the all round development of students to hold important responsibilities in their chosen field.

Produced about 300 Under Graduates and 150 Post Graduates.
Facilities established for Projects and Research activities
(also for P.G and M.Phil. students of other institutions.)
Conducted National Seminars and National Workshops.
Offer job oriented Certificate courses in Bioinformatics and

Medical Lab Technology as part time courses.
