| 2. History of the department: |
B.Com course was started in the year 1994-1995 in Sourashtra College, as a Self Financed Course.
B.Com (Computer Application) was started in the year 2000-2001
M.Com (Computer Application) was started in the year 2003-2004.
The Department has adequate number of rooms to accommodate 210 students and 9 faculty members.

| 3. Objectives: |
Objective is to given special knowledge of Accountancy, Costing, Income Tax and Computer to the Higher secondary students of average attainment, and equip them to hold responsible position in commercial organizations.

| 4. Eligibility For Admission: |
B.Com & B.Com (C.A) – A pass in the +2 examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu or any other examination recognized by M.K. University as its equivalent.
M.Com (CA) – A pass in B.Com (or) B.Com (CA) (or) BBA (or) B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship)

B.Com & B.Com (CA) – Three academic years comprising six semesters
M.Com (C.A) - Two academic years comprising four semesters
