1. Course Offered

B.Sc Computer Science (Self-Financed Course).

2. History of the department:

The B.Sc. Computer Science Programme was started in the year 1997-98. Since then, the department has produced around 175 (7 batches) Computer Science graduates who are well placed in India & Abroad. The department has been functioning with a well equipped Computer Lab and an Electronics Lab.

3. Objectives:

To prepare the students to manage the hardware and software components in a computer independently and to be a programmer, to take up higher studies in Computer Science/Application and teacher training streams.

4. Eligibility For Admission:

Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Government of TamilNadu or any other Examinations accepted by the syndicate as equivalent there to with Mathematics, Computer Science as one of the subjects.

5. Duration Of The Course:

The students shall undergo the prescribed course of study for a period of three academic years.(six semesters).

7. Course Content:

The B.Sc. Computer Science syllabus has been updated every three years by the Board of studies for Computer Science of Madurai Kamaraj University. There are 20 Major Computer Theory papers & 10 Computer practical papers. Some of the important subjects are: Computer Algorithm, Data Structures, Microprocessor & Assembly Language programming, software Engineering, Computer Graphics, C,C++, Java, HTML,VB,Mathematics etc.
