Sourashtra College

Thiru S.K.Jegannathan is an efficient President of the College. Starting his career as a devoted lawyer became the Secretary of the Sourashtra College in the year 1991. He has been the Councilor of the Madurai Corporation for two terms. He was elected President of the college in 2001. As a Councilor he has set certain principles for others to emulate. He has been successful in solving many challenging problems arisen then and there in his ward, thereby earning a goodwill from the public. His involvement in Scout activities during his school days has enthused him to emerge as a social activist. His character has been built along right lines and hence he is admired and respected by all sections of the public. This created in him a desire to provide for the educational advancement of Sourashtras in Madurai city. Therefore he was elected initially the Secretary of Sourashtra Higher Secondary School and thanks to his efforts he was instrumental in establishing Sri Prasanna Venkateshwara Matric Higher Secondary School . He has to his credit many achievements in the field of education and public life. In his personal life he is pious and religious and an ardent follower of the Sri Sathya Sai Movement and spares no pains in spreading the educational and moral values.

Thiru S.V.S.Shivnath, Secretary of the College with effect from 1998 is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering. He has served as the Deputy Manager in TVS Company and has greatly contributed to its growth in many aspects. He has widely travelled across the world and is therefore well versed with the varied aspects of education. By virtue of his association as the Secretary of the KLN College of Engineering and KLN College of information Technology and as the Joint Secretary of KLN Nagaswamy Memorial Polytechnic, he has nurtured himself as an educationist of eminence having dealt with educational issues at all levels with insight, imagination and vision. Therefore he has been the Secretary for the second time of the Sourashtra College Council managing the Sourashtra College (Co-educational) and Sourashtra College for Women. It was possible for him to be instrumental for many innovative programmes going on in all the Institutions.

As a Lion his contributions to the growth of the society are very much laudable. He is a player and lover of Tennis. His dedication of his whole life is to streamline the institutions to emerge ahead in the field of collegiate education and to improve the status of socially backward and downtrodden people. His commitment to the linguistic minority community is well known by all.

Thiru P.K.Mothilal is a distinguished sports man and fascinating industrialist well known to Madurai city and sole proprietor of ELMO Motors. As a Treasurer, he is dealing first with the students’ welfare and then to raise the financial status of the Sourashtra College . His suggestions on these points are bearing fruits. It is his most successful period as treasurer of the Sourashtra College . He is currently connected with KLN Polytechnic Management Committee, KLN College of Engineering and KLN College of Information Technology. He has a philanthropic mind. He hails from a respectable family. He has a glorious history in sports and adorned with many victories in Basketball, besides other games.

Dr.D.R.Rajaram is the senior member in the Sourashtra College Council and takes much effort in his profession. His devotion to medical field is a glorious one. His dedicated service to the community is well known. He has a reputation for high standards in his profession. He spares his precious time to the cause of collegiate education. He was initially associated with the Management Committee of the Sourashtra Higher Secondary School for boys. He is a dignified man and is very much appreciated for his sense of humour, honesty and polite behaviour. He shows respect for others. His approach to common people is a commendable one. He is a resourceful person and rendering a useful service not only to the Community but also to the Sourashtra College .

Thiru K.M.Ragunath is a man of appreciable character and a kind-hearted gentleman. He is an ethical man possessing professional etiquette. More respect for him as he was President of Sourashtra College in 1991-1994. As an Industrialist he is well known and respected by everyone. As a courageous man, he deserves good name and fame. He is part and parcel of so many industry-based associations in Madurai District Small Scale Industries, Aluminium manufacturers association, and Jet Pump manufacturers Association. He has been contributing a lot to the associations where he is associated. Besides his busy schedule, he does so many good things for the cause of his community. He is a magnanimous person and mingles with poverty stricken people for the cause of social upwardness. His Presidentship of Sourashtra Higher Secondary School for boys in the last decade was very memorable.
