2. History of the Department |
The Corporate Secretaryship course (B.A.Corporate Secretaryship) was introduced in the year 1984-85 in Sourashtra College, Madurai. Since then the department has successfully been offering the course to cater to the needs of corporate sector. The department has adequate number of rooms to accommodate 180 students and 4 staff (faculty members). Since inception, the department has been producing good results. The Nomenclature of the course was changed into B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship) in the year 2006-07.

3. Objectives: |
The objective of the B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship) course is to make the students well versed in the recent trends in few areas of interest such as Labour Legislation, Company Law and Taxation. This will help them face real challenges and attend interviews.

4. Eligibility for Admission: |
Candidates seeking admission to the B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship) course must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (any group I / II / III / IV) of the Government of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination.

5. Duration of the Course: |
The duration of the course shall be three academic years comprising six semesters with two semesters in each academic year.

7. Course Content |
The B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship) course consists of 32 papers. It includes some i mportant subjects such as Principles of Law, Company Law, Economic Laws (Economic Legislation), Management Accounting, Taxation, Law and Practice and so on.

8. Special Features: |
a) The Department staff are guiding M.Phil., and M.B.A Students.
- The unique feature of this course is that students have to undergo institutional training for six weeks during the sixth semester. The purpose of this training is to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Another distinct feature of this course is that the syllabi for different subjects have been framed in accordance with A.C.S Inter. |
