| 2. History of the department: |
The B.Sc. Computer Science Course was started in the year 1987-88. Since then, the Department has produced around 500(17 batches) Computer Science graduates who are well placed in India & Abroad. The Department has been producing excellent results over a period of 19 years.The Department has been successfully functioning with a well equipped Computer Laboratory, Electronics Laboratory and a Department Library. The Department has adequate number of rooms to accommodate 150 students and 4 faculty members.

| 3. Objectives: |
To prepare the students to manage the hardware and software components in a computer independently and to be a programmer, to take up higher studies in Computer Science/Application and teacher training streams.

| 4. Eligibility For Admission: |
Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Government of Tamil Nadu or any other Examinations accepted by the syndicate as equivalent there to with Mathematics, Computer Science as one of the subjects.

| 5. Duration Of The Course: |
The students shall undergo the prescribed course of study for a period of three academic years.(six semesters).

| 7. Course Content: |
The B.Sc. Computer Science syllabus has been updated every three years by the Board of studies for Computer Science of Madurai Kamaraj University. At present there are 8 Language papers, 20 Major Computer Theory papers & 10 Computer
Practical papers.

- The Department staff are guiding M.Phil (Computer Science) scholars of various Universities.
The Department conducts a One Day Inter Collegiate Academic and Cultural festival “CYBER HILLS” every year to extract the hidden talents of the young Computer scientists. |
